Lecture by Jorge Otero-Pailos

orge Otero-Pailos is an architect, artist, and theorist specialized in experimental preservation. He leads an award-winning international practice devoted to advancing preservation as a forward-looking creative field, and has received many distinctions including UNESCO’s Prominent Professional Award. He contributes broad expert knowledge in, and strategic thinking on, all aspects and scales of preservation, and collaborates with leading architects to make heritage preservation the inspiration for design excellence. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Art Biennial (2009), and the Manifesta Art Biennial (2008) as well as in art galleries internationally. His work has also been published in professional international journals of reference such as Art in America, Artforum, Architectural Record, Modern Painters, AA Files, Volume, and others.

Otero-Pailos is an associate professor of historic preservation at Columbia University GSAPP, and the founder and editor of the journal Future Anterior.
