Emerging Practices in Mexican Architecture

Daniel Lopez received his degree from La Salle University and established his own firm in 1994. His work has included numerous institutional buildings for the Harp Helu Foundation in Oaxaca and a recent series of single family houses. His design focus is on the reinterpretation of modern architectural patterns in Oaxaca and the landscape.

Renata R. Elizondo received her degrees from the Technical Institute of Monterrey ITESM and the AA in London. She established her firm in 2001 which has concentrated on the design of buildings that employ locally available materials and craftspeople.

Their joint talk “Emerging Practices in Mexican Architecture” will feature their current work. A fiesta and exhibition of student work from Oaxaca study abroad follows lecture.

This lecture is part of the Global Practices in Architecture Lecture Series, which focuses on current work by notable architects from around the world. The series is funded by the Cass Gilbert Lecture Fund.
