Floornature interviews Julien De Smedt to talk about the blend of natural dynamics and social triggers characterising his projects. On the occasion of the completion of the Iceberg, an iconic housing complex built by JDS in Denmark, Julien de Smedt discusses his personal approach to design. Forms of architecture generated by natural dynamics or context become landmarks capable of creating new urban actions. This is the case of projects such as the Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Oslo or the Hedonistic Roof Penthouses in Copenhagen, demonstrating that buildings can be reinvented to generate new ways of using the city.
