Plater-Zyberk, dean of the University of Miami School of Architecture–and dean of New Urbanism–takes us on a tour of a small project embedded with big ideas–and tough site challenges. Plater-Zyberk, principal of DPZ, says this project tries to “provide a good influence for future infill building and densification … as an alternative to the single-family house.” She also explains how a less-than-ideal site informed many of the design decisions–including a need for “particularly picturesque” architecture–and garages which serve as buffers from the street.
